Career field research

The career field research I was interested in was computer science. The person I interviewed was Mr. Zea, he is a math teacher but also teaches computer Science. For computer science there are no education requirements, you can be self taught or not, or you can have a degree or not. Most of the work one might do is from home, you will have to meet up with your team online and work on your project together. Some of the frustrations of computer science are that you either don’t interact with people or interact with people too much. Too little interaction includes not interacting with your peers during a project and too much interaction is having too much meeting throughout the whole day. For low end work one might earn 40,000 a year, but pay is mostly dependent on the project which can be from 40k-70k. For high end you might start with 60k, the better reference from your boss, the better work you might receive. Insurance is dependent on the company you work for, you might have to pay for your own insurance or your company pays for your insurance and retirement might be assured. You are expected to work a lot for this field, the lowest being 40 hours a week and the most being 60. Based on your work, your manager writes reports about you which can give you a higher position or a raise. For Mr. Zea, he pursued computer science but was afraid he wasn’t going to be successful, but now he has the confidence to go for a computer science position. When he was in college he wanted to pursue math and computer science, he had some bad experiences with a teacher but he didn't give up in pursuing computer science. Some advice that Mr. Zea wanted to give to someone who wants to get into computer science is to “Find something you find fun and program everyday, If you like it you will get better at it”. He also recommends sites like codecademy, books and doing the projects in the book or joining a discord which discusses computer science. Mr. Zea also says “how you learn coding is what you have access to and who you have access to, find something easy to understand and easy to implement”. Colleges are ready to take anyone whether a beginner or advanced, into computer science, Mr. Zea recommends that you know some computer science going in so you don’t have to take so many classes. If you are interested in the computer science field, you need to have a mindset to learn a lot.
